I’m going to let the cat out of the bag right up front – I’m writing a book about divorce. If that’s not something you want to hear about, I understand, but I make no apologies for my topic of choice. Or, I guess I should say, the topic that chose me.

I’m getting divorced after almost fourteen years of marriage. I’m also a Christian, and I know that puts me in the minority. However, I also know that a lot of us are out there. I recently tried to join an online Bible study for Christian women going through divorce, only to find the few groups out there were FULL. That means, there’s a need. That means there are more of us. Even if we’re hiding in the shadows, afraid of that believer who will show up and smugly tell us that God hates divorce. I know He does. So do I. But, it is a reality that I’m facing.

I believe strongly in using pain to help others, and that’s what I’m intending to do with this book. It will feature my same sense of humor as other writing I’ve done (a little sarcasm and snark never hurt anyone!), but it’s also the most raw thing I’ve ever written. I’m going through this now and while I’ve been afraid to shout it from the rooftops up until this point, I’m ready now. I’m ready to wear my scarlet D unashamedly, and in so doing, I hope to help others who are going through the same thing.

If you’re new here and wondering who I am – I’m a writer, and voice actor who never thought she’d get a divorce, and yet sadly found myself in this place. I’ve written for Christian magazines and websites (as well as some secular publications) and spent about eight years writing for others through brand stories, ghostwriting, and developmental editing. I’m new to the divorce book writing game, but not new to writing (I also have Masters degrees in English and Religious studies). I’m not an expert on divorce in the sense of being a counselor or anything like that. But, I am an expert in the sense that I’m going through it. While it’s a qualification I never would have put on my vision board, I’m leaning into my new life and am looking forward to seeing the beauty emerge from this painful time in my life.

Hi, I'm Melie.

If you've landed on one of my posts it's probably because you're either divorced, trying to navigate this new world of dating, grieving, or all of the above. Welcome to the club!

Life hasn't turned out the way I thought it would, that's for sure!

Maybe you feel the same way…

You thought life was going to be a beautiful fairy tale..but it’s a hot mess express instead.

Maybe you’re heartbroken, let down, or just have questions (like "What the h-e-double-hockey-sticks happened to my life?!")

Or maybe you’re so fed up with "surprises" in life that you’ve become numb to the faith that used to inspire you.

If so, you’re in the right place.
